What is The Helm?
The Helm is a job board built specifically for the sportfishing industry. Captains and owners can post open crew positions — captains, mates, sonar operators, stewards, and more — while crew members can browse open roles or list themselves as available for work. For crew who aren't US citizens, listings include the visa or work authorization needed for that position, giving international crew clear insight and direction on what it takes to legally work aboard US-flagged boats in the US. No agencies, no middlemen: just boats and crew finding each other directly.
Our Goal
In an industry where dedicated job boards are virtually nonexistent and hiring still happens largely through word of mouth, our platform fills that gap. We provide an easy-to-use, centralized hub where captains, mates, and owners can connect directly — replacing informal networking with a seamless, streamlined hiring process.
